COVID-19 Family Update 12-7-2020

There are no known COVID-19 cases in residents or staff at d’Youville Pavilion. We begin our surveillance testing of all staff tomorrow. We will be posting throughout the week with test results of all our surveillance swabbing.

Going into the colder months usually means cold and flu symptoms for many of us. This season is a little different with COVID-19 as many of the symptoms are similar to the common cold or flu however our elderly population are especially susceptible to this virus. COVID-19 can have dire consequences for our elders. We take protecting our residents as the highest priority. Meaning, we have a very low threshold for testing if a resident becomes symptomatic. We continue to monitor all residents for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and are in close communications 24/7 with our physician group.

COVID-19 has changed the way we do many things. One thing that hasn’t changed is celebrating the holidays. Today we began with the holiday meals on the units. While they are socially distant and there any many new forms of infection control measures to ensure the resident’s safety it is one form of normalcy for the residents. There has been holiday decorating throughout the facility, music and crafts to lift everyone’s spirits. During these challenging times we are doing everything we can to bring a little holiday cheer. We encourage you to schedule a zoom call, phone call or send a card to your loved one this holiday season!
