phil hickeyPhilip Hickey, President d’Youville Pavilion and Covenant Health System Vice President for Post-Acute-Maine

Philip T. Hickey, has served in his role for the past 5 years. Philip holds an MBA/MHA from Trinity University and has over 35 years of experience working in senior living. Philip is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator in Maine, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania, serving as CEO in several healthcare organizations before coming to Covenant/St. Mary’s in October 2014. In his free time, Philip enjoys the restoration of period homes, spending time with his children, pets and traveling. Philip loves his role in leadership, mentoring staff and providing care and services to residents and carrying on St. Marguerite’s mission.

elizabeth keeneElizabeth Keene, Director of Mission Integration

Elizabeth Keene serves as Vice President for Mission Integration for St. Mary’s Health System. In this role she is responsible for integrating the mission and values of the Sisters of Charity, founded by St. Marguerite d’Youville, into the hospital, long-term care facility and physician practices associated with St. Mary’s. Her work includes supervision for pastoral care, ethics, social accountability and spirituality in the workplace programs. Her background is in pastoral counseling and end-of-life care. She received a B.A. in psychology and religion from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Mass., and she received her Master’s degree in pastoral ministry from Boston College. She is a Fellow in Thanatology in Death, Dying and Bereavement from the Association of Death Education and Counseling and is an Associate Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains. She has presented regionally and nationally on spirituality, palliative care and grief.

marissa varneyMarissa S. Varney, Director of Nursing and Assistant Administrator

Marissa has served as the Director of Nursing and Assistant Administrator since 2015 at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion. Marissa holds a nursing degree from Clarkson College in Omaha, Nebraska, a Nursing Home Administrator’s license and has over 30 years of experience in geriatric nursing. Marissa has been with St. Mary’s for 15 years and has served in a multitude of capacities at d’Youville Pavilion, including as a staff nurse and nurse manager. In her spare time, she enjoys walking near the park, gardening and working in the yard to release stress. Marissa enjoys her role and is proud of every staff member at d’Youville Pavillion for their passion, commitment to patients and residents and their belief in living the mission each day.
