COVID-19 Family Update 01-04-2021

The positivity rate throughout Maine continues to climb. The anticipated rise in cases seen due to holiday gatherings is upon us. In Androscoggin county, the positivity rate for the last 28 days is 5.1% and there is a case rate of 94.57 cases per 10,000 people. There are 11 active outbreaks in Androscoggin county! These are alarming numbers to us but not necessarily a surprise as we keep a close eye on the daily case counts and what is happening in our community.

There are no known cases of COVID-19 in residents or staff at d’Youville Pavilion. Tomorrow and Wednesday we will be completing our surveillance testing of all staff. Moving forward, due to the cases of COVID in the community, we will be increasing the frequency of testing of our staff to weekly. The lab we use is excellent with their turn around times which assists us in identification and containment if there were positive individuals.

We are also busy planning for our 2nd COVID Vaccination Clinic. On January 14th, we will be hosting a Vaccine Clinic with Walgreens for all residents and staff. This will require the completion of a second consent form by all individuals that were previously vaccinated at our December 22nd clinic. Nurse leaders will be reaching out to residents and their representatives to obtain consent in the coming days. While most residents have already received their first dose, any new admission is also eligible to receive a vaccine at the next clinic. We will also continue to vaccinate staff. As we previously mentioned, our vaccine plan included staggered vaccination of staff. During our previous clinic, we are pleased to report that there were very little to no side effects in employees in the days after receiving their vaccine. We continue to strongly recommended the COVID-19 vaccination for all residents and employees and look forward to another successful vaccination day!
